No, if you have a moderate level of fitness and can follow instructions then its a real possibility. Dave has guided many inexperienced anglers onto their fish of a lifetime.
No, you just need a moderate level of fitness. Dave will assess your capabilities and after a lesson on the beach before launching, you can learn on the job.
Water, snacks (for up to 4 hours on the water) hat, sun safe clothing, reef shoes if you have any, fridge or esky with ice for your fillets!
No, Dave will do all the rigging.
Dave will instruct you on the basics and will then be paddling right along side you giving you the encouragement and instructions you need to bring the fish to the surface. Dave will then control the fish by either gaffing or tail grabbing it and either humanely dispatching the maccy and depositing it into his kayak hatch or releasing it.
First of all don’t panic, it can happen to the best of us. Typically the kayaks are very stable but in the event of a roll over the kayaks are sealed and all the fishing gear is leashed to it. Put simply, Dave will be on hand to right the kayak if needed and to help you back on. This has happened in the past while customers have been fighting fish and we have managed to get them back on and still land the fish. You will be wearing a PFD (life jacket) so you will just float next to your kayak until we get you back on.
Typically anywhere from 3 to 12kms. Its not a paddling race on the water, we basically troll at a walking pace so in the right conditions exertion levels can be low. We use the wind, swell and current to our advantage to help your experience be a pleasant one. There are times when we have to put in the hard yards but satisfaction levels at the end of the day seem to far outweigh any of the exertion involved along the way.

Yes, as long as we have notice, it is no problem catering for specific dietary requirements, intolerances and allergies. Specific dietary requirements other than vegetarian (ie vegan, gluten free, FODMAP etc) may incur an additional fee per person per day
Go pro’s are welcome, especially if you have a hands free mount as you will be busy with both of your hands paddling and fishing. Phones or any other devices not water proof are not recommended. Dave has a Go Pro running on his hat generally so there will normally be footage of you.
Dave will assess the conditions leading up to the tour and will make any changes needed to keep you safe and help the tour go ahead. These might include changing the day, location, or time of launch. There are options when it is windy to down wind from launch to landing in a few places along the Cape. Dave will do everything to get you on the water safely but cancellations will occur where it’s deemed necessary. Dave is flexible and can change the days as long as he is not booked out.
Yes, advise Dave of your situation and he will do his best to find a second paddler. It may involve changing days but we will do our best to get you on the water. The more booking notice the better!
We share the ocean with all its inhabitants, sharks being an apex predator, however, Dave has found over the years the general rule is the sharks are not interested in us, only what is on the end of our line. We can go for months without seeing a shark and not have any fish re-predated to days where we lose multiple fish. As unpredictable as it is, Dave’s statistics show a much lower level of shark interaction than boats can have. There are plenty of theories but through Dave’s experience sharks tend to follow boat motors. The sound, the smell of the engine, the wake and sonar are all factors. Dave’s fishing methods involve the fish wearing itself out with a medium drag setting. Typically you can fight a fish for 5 to 10 minutes without alerting any grey suits to what is going on. Dave has had sharks swimming under his kayak while fighting fish and landing the fish a few minutes later with no shark to be seen!
